2021 Mercedes Marathon – Postponed
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend is postponed until February 2022 out of caution due to safety concerns amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
MBUSI and Birmingham Marathon, Inc. together agreed to postpone the race weekend to protect the health and safety of runners, staff and volunteers.
The pandemic has also made planning difficult, with limited access to resources needed to carry out the race and inability to get required permits for an event of this size.
Birmingham Marathon, Inc. will be reaching out to all registered participants to confirm options to roll over registrations to the 2022 event, which will be the 20th Anniversary of the marathon.
Mercedes-Benz Kids Marathon – The modified Mercedes-Benz Kid’s Marathon sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is still taking place – children are running the 26.2 miles virtually or in organized sessions at their schools.
