The Mercedes Technician Program is for you!
Courses and training in this program are focused on Automotive technology and being able to diagnose and trouble shoot vehicle issues. It includes 61 credit hours of instruction from Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The Mercedes Technician Program is a great opportunity to receive an education and to earn money while working. For students that successfully complete the Program and are hired on as full time Team Members at Mercedes-Benz, there are many opportunities.
Numerous students have successfully completed the program since 2012 and are now working full time with MBUSI. Some of these students are already fulfilling roles such as: Automotive Repair Team Member, Production Team Leader and Project Team Member.
- Starting pay $14.50/hour
- Paid for hours worked in production and training at the training center
- Top students will have an opportunity to utilize their learned skills in the Assembly Systems Skills Area. (Mercedes-Benz Vehicle Repair).
AIDT Application Process

Clicking on the link will take you to the AIDT website and it will ask you to set up an account.
Once you have set up your account, you’ll need to leave the website and go back to the MBUSI.com website and click “CLICK HERE TO APPLY” again.
NOTE: When completing the application, please make sure that your contact information is correct. AIDT, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. and Shelton State Community College communicate primarily by email.
Wait for an email response from AIDT
Once you have completed the application for the Mercedes Tech program and you have met the qualifications to apply, you will be placed in a pool of applicants to be invited to an assessment.
AIDT will contact you in order to schedule your assessment.
The assessment will take place at AIDT, 6 Mercedes Drive, Vance, AL. This is our training facility located next to our Visitor Center adjacent to the plant.
The invitation will arrive in your email. (You may want to monitor your spam email inbox just to make sure that your emails are not automatically being delivered to your spam folder.)
The first assessment will take approximately 1 day to complete.
Once your first assessment has been completed, your scoring information will be sent to the Mercedes-Benz Human Resources Dept.
Depending upon your assessment result, you will either advance to the interview precess or receive an email notification stating that you did not meet the criterion to advance. If your assessment results indicate that you qualify for advancement, you will be contacted by a representative from Mercedes-Benz U.S. International to schedule an interview.
The interview will take place at AIDT, the same facility where the first assessment was administered and will take approximately 45 minutes and you will be required to bring your hight school transcripts and any college transcripts.
The interview is the last step in the process. If successful, you will be placed in a pool of candidates for selection into the Mercedes Tech Program.
ACT WorkKeys is also part of the selection process. ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment. Beginning in 2015, the State of Alabama started requiring all seniors to take the WorkKeys. Mercedes-Benz will rely on any ACT WorkKeys taken in 2015, 2016, or 2017. If you are a current high school senior, you will be providing your results from the academic 2017/18 school year.
If you are an out of state candidate, your information will be sent to Shelton State Community College and they will contact you in order to schedule your ACT WorkKeys assessment.
All offers to join the Mercedes Tech program will be extended through our staffing agency at North American On-Site. www.naonsite.com.
Note: This 2 year associate’s degree program is not a production program. This program is primarily focused on training applicants the skills associated with vehicle technology. SHELTON STATE APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications Accepted at Shelton State Beginning October 19, 2017
Go to www.sheltonstate.edu and complete an application to attend at Shelton State Community College. After you complete an application, you will be given a student ID.

Can I take classes online?
What are my financial requirements while in the program?
All students are responsible for their portion of the tuition and fees and for any books that may be required. Please see "Tuition and Fees:" section.
Can anyone apply for the program?
Yes. Anyone interested in the program can apply, however, the program is a full time student program with limited work hours.
What should I consider before applying?
- All candidates should review the details of the program.
- The 6 terms of instruction are back to back and the amount of work will be limited while attending school.
- All students will be expected to rotate shifts.
- All students will be expected to be present and on time at school and work.
- All students must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
- All students will be required to work their regular scheduled hours at work, which also includes any overtime that may be scheduled.
The program is 2 years in length. All candidates should consider this before applying. This takes commitment. The program guidelines state that Mercedes-Benz will offer full time employment to the top percent of those students that successfully complete the program within a certain GPA range.

- Gain hands on experience by working at the plant each week.
- With a GPA of 3.0 and above students will earn a position with MBUSI.
- Top percent of students will be assessed to work in our Assembly repair area (based on need). Other students will go into Assembly production.
